Question and Answer with Tom Cohan
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: Born in Boston; grew up in Cleveland, OH; moved back to Boston for college and have been here ever since.
Q: Interests? Hobbies?
A: Biking, ice skating, yoga, golf, politics
Q: What is your current favorite anthem/riding song or band?
A: Don't listen to music while riding. Musical taste is generally stuck in the late 60s/70s rock and folks, but also enjoy jazz, indie rock and most recently have come to enjoy the Metropolitan Opera.
Q: Nickname?
A: The only one that ever stuck for any length of time is "Co."
Q: What or who introduced you to two wheels?
A: My mom who is also a member of our club. She was probably the
only music teacher who rode her bike to work carrying an autoharp in
the suburbs.
Q: When did you start cycling?
A: In kindergarten on my sister's "girl's bike." I couldn't reach the seat so I learned to ride standing up. I didn't really start riding for exercise until I retired several years ago.
Q: Why do you ride now?
A: I thoroughly enjoy it for the exercise, the camaraderie of riding with new friends and the pleasure in exploring new towns and trails. I like to ride at a leisurely pace to take in the sights and smell the roses!
Q: Favorite Local Ride or place to ride?
A: I enjoy the ride through the Blue Hills to Marina Bay and back along the Neponset River Trail. I especially like riding along the Boston waterfront and the seashore. A little further afield there are some particularly scenic rides in Westport, Cohasset/Scituate, Cape Ann and Cape Cod.
